Forensic Mental Health

People in contact with the forensic system (police, legal, bail, remand, parole, custodial) experience significantly poorer mental and physical health than the general community. Although people with a mental illness are more often the victims of crime a significant percentage of people in contact with the forensic system are impacted by mental and or drug use disorder.

Psych Fit Health Nurse Practitioners have specialist knowledge and skills in the assessment and delivery of mental health care to people in contact with the forensic system including initial forensic assessment, diagnostic review, care planning and ongoing review and management.

Psych Fit Health Nurse Practitioners will complete letters of support, forensic mental health assessments and required reports for the legal system (courts, probation & parole etc). Extra fee dependent on requirements.
